I'm thankful for the "Home, Family and Personal Enrichment" program in the Relief Society at church. I love that there is such a variety of things to do each month. I just recently went to a sewing mini series. I sewed myself an apron, it is so cute! I'll have to get a picture of it on here soon. But I learned how to make rag quilts, I'm so excited about this! For you moms, do you have receiving blankets laying around you aren't using anymore? Well, I got this idea from a girl at church...I am using all of Hannah's receiving blankets and I'm making her a rag quilt out of them. What a great way to keepsake these sweet blankets from her first months of life! It is actually pretty simple to do, it just takes a little time...
Rag Quilt
All you need to do is cut 7 inch squares and sew 2 diagonal lines on each double sided square (so that it makes an X). After you've done that you sew the squares together, 7 in a row horizontally, with a one inch seam. Do as many rows as you like and then sew the rows together also with a one inch seam. Once the rows have been sewn together and it is now a blanket take some scissors and snip about 3 to 4 cuts into each seam throughout the blanket. Throw it in the washer and dryer and it should fray where you snipped and you are done!
